Course Description

The workshop opens up with a short overview of where the web is at today, and more importantly where the opportunities are for SMEs. This is an important part in understanding which areas you will need to work on with your own website later in the day.

Following the overview we will switch focus onto your own websites. We will be looking at ways to generate traffic to your site, ways to improve conversion rates, suggestions for using social media in a corporate context and tools that measures your success online.

We will also be looking at tools for benchmarking your website against your competitors, which can help you identify areas of your site holding back performance.

Throughout the day the workshop is very hands on and delegates will have time to explore and develop their own sites. At the end of the session you will leave with a website evaluation report, targeted for your website. This will be an excellent reference point for either working with your developer or implementing changes yourself.

We will cover the following areas during the day :

Generating traffic

website-traffic-courseAt the end of the day if your site isn't getting traffic it simply won't bring you business. We will look at how to achieve better rankings in the search engines, how to choose good keyword phrases and also evaluate the existing SEO implemented on your site and give advice on how you can improve it.

There are lots of ways to generate traffic to your website other than just organic search rankings, so we will make sure you go away with some good, realistic, ideas of how to increase the number of visitors to your site.

Increasing sales & enquiries on your website

So you are already bringing in lots of traffic, but how do you get those visitors to do exactly what you want them to do?

Conversion rates are key for your website's performance and this is an area where very simple changes can make a really big difference. We look at how you can ensure users visit more pages and stay for longer, and most importantly, how to make them perform key tasks like clicking that magic purchase button, enquire about a service or contact you.

Social media

Social Media CourseThis isn't about convincing everyone to be on Facebook. For a time and money strapped SME, social media might not even be on the radar, but you might be surprised how you can make some of these (entirely free) tools really work for you business.

Different channels work for different sectors, we will give you targeted advise for your business. It may also be that you are already using social media, but perhaps not seeing the returns on it you were expecting.

Measuring success online

There are some excellent free tools available to measure different factors of success for your website's performance. Equally importantly, they can also help you spot problems with your site.

Identify pages on your site which aren't working and find out what keywords are bringing you traffic. Get to know your users better, where they are coming from and what are they looking at. We will give you a list of key factors of things to check, a few minutes each month really can make a difference.
